“Try out the new audio format MP3 Surround”

This evaluation software is for personal and non-commercial use and is intended to demonstrate the MP3 Surround technology available at Fraunhofer IIS. MP3 Surround provides a multi-channel listening experience with a minimum of extra bitrate and maximum compatibility.

MP3 Surround supports high-quality multi-channel sound at bit rates comparable to those currently used to encode stereo MP3 material, resulting in files half the size of common compressed surround formats. At the same time, the new format offers complete backward compatibility to any existing MP3 software and hardware devices.

  • MP3 SX: Capable of playing MP3 SX files (MP3 files enhanced with the MP3 SX converter) in 5.1 Surround over speakers or headphones
